Meeting Mischief:
What Did We Learn?
Pilbara Wildlife Carer, Rose Best, kindly brought in Mischief, a Flying Fox today.
What a treat it was to meet him and observe how he moved and behaved.

Mischief is a young Black Flying Fox. (Keeley)
When a mother gives birth, she puts her wings under her legs to catch the baby. Mischief's didn't. (Emma-Jane)
Today I learnt that Mischief's mother accidentally dropped him at birth. (Alice)
Mischief likes tomatoes, bananas, plums and Mikayla. A bat's hands are rounded like a human's are. (Ruby)

If a bat flies onto you, do not move. Bats have very soft fur. Mischief is scared of birds. (Mikayla)
Mischief's wings are like fabric. He is not an orphan. Wild animals don't be naughty. (Brock)

It was wonderful to spend time with him and Rose. Mikayla actually was responsible for introducing him to cherry tomatoes and perhaps this is why he was so 'interested' in her. It seemed fitting therefore, that Mikayla thanked Rose and Mischief for sharing their time with us. He certainly is a cutie!
