KANGAROOS

Kangaroo's would have to be the second largest group that we receive into our care. Most of the Kangaroo's that are brought into us, are orphaned joeys. Their mother's have been hit on the road and now they need a surrogate mother until they can be released back into the wild. A baby Joey needs formulated mammals milk and to be kept warm.

We do from time to time receive in large adult kangaroos. These injuries have to be assessed usually with the help of an advanced carer and the local vet to see if the animals is able to lead a normal life in the wild once the injury is healed.

Here in the Pilbara there are two main species the Euro and the Red
Kangaroo.
The Euros are smaller in size than a red and have a typical triangular black nose.
The reds are much bigger and usually have beautiful black and white muzzles with small "V" shaped noses.
